2011-12 projects
Grounds for Change
Southbank Cultural Precinct Redevelopment – Stage 1 Hamer Hall
This long-term project traces the transformation of the much-loved Hamer Hall as it rejuvenates its facilities, improves the audience experience and opens up to the river.
Progress reports are available on The Arts Centre website and our record will culminate in a TV documentary with the opening in 2012.
To the Beat of the Drum
To the Beat of the Drum
The first in a three-part series on cultural exchange, we look at a group of traditional performance enthusiasts recreating traditional Chinese dance and acrobatic feats with Chinese lions and a competition-size dragon. What makes this Bendigo group special is not only their skill and dedication, but also that none of them is Chinese.
Sicilian Seafood Cookbook
Star food blogger and Sicilian food and cultural expert Marisa Rainolo Wilkins called in the Making of Movies team to provide a teaser for the book industry for her new Sicilian Seafood Cooking book, available November 2011, New Holland, RRP $45 (weight 1.8kg), a tome to treasure. This is a great way for an author to connect with readers.
The Making of Movies team lends its support in various ways to a number of projects by young and aspiring filmmakers. This includes most recently:
Made by Hand
We are pleased that this includes the Made By Hand series by Tracey Wightman, broadcast in 2011 as a 9-part series on Channel 31. Made by Hand brings to the screen stories about local crafts people, their skills and achievements. See episodes on the Made by Hand website.

Over almost three years, Making of Movies was entrusted with recording the design, construction and usage of the Melbourne Recital Centre and the permanent home for the Melbourne Theatre Company.
